Business Dynamics and Challenges
Business Activities:
Langa Energy Suppliers (Pty) Ltd is a wholly black youth owned business enterprise specialising in supply, delivery and installation of solar solutions and power backup systems for both residential & commercial clients. The business was founded and registered in 2022 by Mr. Mpho Fefield Mokwena who is the sole director and owner of the business. Within the first two years that the business has been operation, it had successfully established itself in the market, currently with clients throughout the province of Mpumalanga and in Johannesburg & Pretoria.
Due to the break-in on the business premises where an amount of +/- R100 000,00 worth of stock was stolen and insurance refusing to pay as a result of poor security on the business premises, the business was then forced to relocate its operations to a more secured premises. Langa Energy Suppliers (Pty) Ltd specializes in the supply, delivery and installation of the following:
1. PV Solar Power Systems,
2. UPS Systems,
3. DC & AC Power Backup Systems,
4. Solar Components, Inverters & Battery Chargers.
Challenges/Needs:
THE CHALLENGES.
• The day the client was introduced to Seda.
Client was first on-boarded as Sedfa client in September 2024, following the client’s visit to the branch (Sedfa-Nkangala) for small business development support, including assistance with access to funding. The assessment of the business operations was then conducted using Small Business Assessment Tool (SBAT) and the following challenges were identified:
1. Access to Funding.
After the business identified an opportunity to expand its market within the residential market, through supplying and installing solar solutions and power backup systems to residential clients on credit, subject to the signing of the sixty (60) months credit agreement. This was going to allow private individual clients that cannot afford installation of solar solutions on a once-off full upfront payment agreement, to access the business product offerings. The business needed funding to finance the buying of solar equipment in order to service this market.
2. Office and Company Fleet Branding.
The business recently relocated its operations to newly leased premises downtown (Witbank), following the break-in on its previous operating space. The business required assistance with branding of the new business premises and the company fleet used in the delivery of its services.
