Business Dynamics and Challenges
Business Activities:
The Breeze is selling prepared food to its customers, in addition its manufacturing chilly sauce, is also producing bottled water. The sauce is sold in a 500ml size for now, while the water is sold in a 330ml size. There is a plan to incorporate other sizes in future. The medium-term goal is to secure a bigger site to expand the business. This move has the potential to increase the business sales by over 100%. Despite being a start-up, the business has managed to penetrate formal markets such as Roots, Makhoma, Lebamba, amongst other retailers. The sauce has been the main product that has proven to be on demand by these formal markets.
Challenges/Needs:
The business challenges have been lack of funds to promote the business, increase capacity and not knowing how to formalize the business amongst other things.
Intervention Insights and Results
Intervention Details:
(i) Business assessment
The assessment helped with financial projections, identification of strengths and weaknesses. This analysis generated a plan of action, as a result; Seda intervened as follows to help the client:
(ii) Company registration
The client was assisted to formalize the business through CIPC registration. The client was also counselled on tax matters and how to keep basic records.
(iii) Marula Festival Exhibition
The client was assisted to exhibit own products during marula event in Phalaborwa. The event exposed the business to the public and leads were created.
(iv) Sekgosese exhibition
Sedfa assisted the client to exhibit own products at Sekgosese mall, this was done in conjunction with Mopani district municipality. The client was able to create networks with other businesses and create leads.

Outcome Details:
The business has grown and sales have increased from R0 from when the business was not operating, then increased to R180,000 when the business was assessed. The business sales are now R262800 and increasing. The business’s number of employees has also grown from 0 when it was not operating, to 1 when it was assessed, it is now employing 4 people.
